![]() It comes quite close to outright destroying picnic, as shown by the environment's darkened colors and the transit system closing due to "seemingly apocalyptic circumstances".Also during the game's climax, the brush pries itself from Pizza so they can't use it to subvert its conquest.Due to Chicory living in Luncheon, the Brush corrupts that area the most, posing as a genuine threat to the townspeoples' lives during the climax. In Chapter 5, the corruption uses her self-loathing anxiety attack to pull her into the paint pooled around her three times over, using her to claw, bite, and lash at Pizza. In Chapter 4 during an argument with Pizza, the corruption literally forms around her. Chicory herself is used as a favored vessel throughout the first half of the game.As it bonds with Pizza, it uses their own insecurities against them, taking Chicory's form to belittle them in chapter 3 and taking their own in chapter 4.It makes multiple attempts on Pizza's life through the corruption as they battle it, knowing they're the biggest obstacle to the corruption spreading. In Chapter 1, the Corruption pulls Blackberry into itself, and likely would have killed her if Pizza hadn't intervened and saved her.In general, the corruption invades the environment around it using the negative thoughts and feelings of the Wielders, causing major damage to the environment over the course of the game.Relatively minor, but the sudden disappearance of all the world's color is almost certainly caused by the corruption as well. The first large tree also likely spawned there, with the corruption having taken Blackberry's form. When the area is properly seen, Brunch Canyon is littered with the trees and even has black pools of ink caused by the corruption that completely swallows Pizza if walked into. After a heated arguement between Chicory and Blackberry in Brunch Canyon, the brush used both wielders' anxieties to begin triggering a new wave of Corruption, growing a single black tree in the area.Long before the events of the game, the Brush ushered in countless waves of corruption using many of its wielders and their negative feelings. As the source of the Corruption, the Brush is solely responsible for everything the Corruption does.Even though it's hard to initially discern given it looks and functions like a (magic) paintbrush, the brush is indeed self-aware as it's an empathic artifact that bonds with the people who use it and clearly acts on its own, trying to defend itself as the game's final boss.
